scientifically, i am a member of the underworld variety of faerie noblis, or dark elf. i am very rare, nocturnal, omnivorous, highly intelligent, and chaotic demented with silly tendencies. i possess treasure types nx5 and qx2, which really doesn't seem to be all that much these days. i usually wear no armor, but am armed with a rapier wit +5 and the magic banana. i own a mansion und a yacht.

i grew up in boulder, colorado, which is generally a really neat place. i spent several years studying aerospace engineering and computer science at the university of colorado and working as a fortran programmer at applied spectrum research. i left all that and moved to minneapolis in late 1994, for some reason which apparently sounded really good at the time.

i'm currently employed as the web demon of iphouse, a twin cities ISP. tri-tech center, fifth floor, office of evil. i get to play with fast hardware and write web pages and various bits of kick-ass software for a living. not too shabby...

i have been quoted in playboy, sassy, the cyberpunk handbook, and several other magazines and books, and have appeared in a small number of pretty good student films which nobody will ever see anyway.

drow is proud to be a geek and an engineer. drow may be cool, k-rad, elite, or 31337, but is not lame. drow is safe for the environment. drow contains no artificial preservatives, colors, flavorings, or sweeteners. do not take drow internally.

computer dogma

macintosh, unix, dsl. NeXT is the radiant black light of heaven, a digital utopia which is forbidden to mere mortals. i use a mac for my desktop work because its a really nice environment which doesn't get in my way. i use unix for my real work because its powerful enough to handle it. dsl is pretty fast, i can't touch a modem ever again.

i own an apple powermac g3 desktop (nuku nuku), apple powermac g3 desktop (digiko), apple blueberry ibook (iria), NeXT colour workstation (skuld), and mac classic II 4/40 (hitomi). peripherals include a cisco 675 dsl router, supra 14.4 modem, sony spressa 4x cd-rw, umax astra 1200s scanner, and a 120 mb hard drive (which jbay loaned me, packed full of pkk mods and c4).

i prefer the tcsh unix shell for interactive work, but am proficient at scripting in both bourne and csh style shells, as well as in awk, gawk, sed, expect, and ircii. i program in fortran (the One True Language), java, c, perl, php, javascript, pascal, basic, and logo. perl and c++ are EVIL.

computer junk

computer junk rocks, i think it adds a lovely baroque feeling to a space. i currently have an at&t 4425 terminal on my desk, and recently acquired a full height 5.25" 600 mb paperweight which won't even low-level format anymore. i used to have a lot more (including numerous motherboards and a bitgraph terminal with a true 8.5" x 11" screen, which i used for an endtable), but it all had to be left in boulder when i moved.

anime and manga

my favorite anime includes akira, appleseed, bubblegum crisis, battle angel alita, nausicaa, record of lodoss war, ruin explorers, slayers, and vampire princess miyuu. i have seen digi charat and survived, nyo. i'm a member of the nene romanova fan club, the lovely angels fan club and fire support team, and the lina inverse "dragon slaves" fan club; and an ex-member of dai, denver anime international.

role-playing games

i play or have played D&D (1e to 5e), battletech, call of cthulhu, car wars, gamma world, gurps (fantasy/magic, cyberpunk, space), james bond 007, living steel, middle earth role playing, ogre, paranoia, pathfinder, phoenix command, renegade legion, shadowrun, space master, star frontiers, star trek (fasa), teenage mutant ninja turtles (not proud), and toon.

i've been DM for a local d&d gaming group since 1994, currently on its thirteenth campaign. i've also run an online call of cthulhu campaign, played in online ad&d and shadowrun campaigns, and was a founding member of rmada, the rocky mountain autoduel association.
